Enter an area in square feet, acres, square meters, or hectares to convert it to the other three units.
How to Use the Acreage Calculator
Enter an area, then pick its unit — Sq Ft, Acres, Sq M, or Hectares — from the four buttons above the field. The other three units update immediately.
An acre is an old unit with an oddly specific origin: 43,560 square feet, or one furlong by one chain, roughly the area a team of oxen could plow in a day. Odd as the number looks, it's exact and fixed, not a rounded approximation.
1 acre = 43,560 ft²
1 hectare = 10,000 m²
1 ft² = 0.09290304 m²
Real estate listings, land surveys, and farm plots mix all four units depending on the country, which is the whole reason this calculator exists — a hectare figure from a European listing doesn't mean much until it's converted to acres for a US buyer, or vice versa.
