Conductance is the inverse of resistance — where resistance measures how much a material opposes current, conductance measures how easily current gets through it. Double a wire's resistance and its conductance is cut in half; the two are always reciprocals of each other.

A dead short — essentially zero resistance — corresponds to enormous conductance; an open circuit's near-infinite resistance corresponds to conductance near zero. Between those extremes, most everyday materials land somewhere in the microsiemens-to-millisiemens range: ultrapure water conducts at roughly half a microsiemens per centimeter, while tap water, carrying dissolved minerals, typically measures in the hundreds of microsiemens.
Kilosiemens shows up mostly in industrial and utility contexts — grid-scale conductivity measurements, large busbar systems — while millisiemens and microsiemens dominate lab and water-quality work, since siemens per centimeter is the standard unit for reporting a solution's electrical conductivity.
