Enter length and width in feet and depth in inches to calculate volume in cubic yards for any material.
How to Use the Cubic Yards Calculator
Length and width go in feet, depth goes in inches — enter the space being filled, and cubic yards, cubic feet, and a bag count all update together.
cubic feet = length (ft) × width (ft) × (depth (in) ÷ 12)
cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27
This tool is deliberately material-agnostic: soil, mulch, concrete, sand, and crushed stone all get bought by the cubic yard, and rather than guessing which one applies, the bag-size field is left generic for you to fill in from whatever product you're actually buying. Leave it at the default 0.75 ft³ for a rough estimate, or check the bag label for an exact number.
