Calculator

Free GPA calculator: find your grade point average from a list of course grades and credit hours.

GPA ( credits)

Uses the standard 4.0 US grade point scale (A/A+ = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3 ... F = 0.0). Some schools use a slightly different scale — check yours if you need an exact institutional match.

Enter each course's grade and credit hours to calculate your GPA.

How to Use the GPA Calculator

Add a row per course with its grade and credit hours — GPA is credit-weighted, so a 4-credit class pulls harder on the average than a 1-credit one.

GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ(credit hours)

Each course contributes in proportion to its credit hours, not equally — a 4-credit class with a B pulls your GPA harder than a 1-credit class with the same grade, which is exactly why a flat average of your letter grades would give the wrong number. This GPA Calculator runs the credit-weighted version on the standard US 4.0 scale (A/A+ = 4.0 down to F = 0.0, with the usual +/− adjustments in between).

Worth flagging: not every school uses this exact scale. Some cap A+ above 4.0, some skip the +/− gradations entirely — check your institution's own scale if you need an exact match rather than a close approximation.
