This runs the same volume-and-weight math as the standalone Gravel Calculator, sized for driveway-scale inputs and a deeper default depth — driveways generally need more gravel than a garden path or drainage bed, both because vehicle weight demands a sturdier base and because the surface layer compacts and needs occasional top-ups over the years.
Many gravel driveways are actually built in two layers: a coarser 4-6 in base for structure, topped with a thinner 2 in layer of finer, more walkable surface stone. If that's the plan, run this calculator twice — once per layer, each with its own depth and density — rather than trying to average the two into one number.
Gravel driveways also aren't a one-time purchase the way a concrete slab is; expect to add a thin top-up layer every few years as loose stone migrates to the edges and settles into the base beneath it.
