Nutrition, chronic illness, and puberty timing can all shift a child meaningfully off this prediction in either direction — it's a genetic baseline, not a forecast that accounts for how a specific child actually grows. A pediatrician tracking growth-chart percentiles over years has far more signal than this formula ever will from two numbers.
