Enter a side length or perimeter to calculate a regular hexagon's area, apothem, and circumradius.

How to Use the Hexagon Calculator

Choose Side or Perimeter, enter the value, and the calculator returns the hexagon's area, apothem (the distance from center to the midpoint of a side), and circumradius (center to a corner).

A regular hexagon is six equal sides meeting at six 120° interior angles, and one property makes it unusual among regular polygons: its circumradius is exactly equal to its side length.

perimeter = 6 × side
apothem = side ÷ (2 × tan(30°))
area = (3√3 ÷ 2) × side²
circumradius = side

That last equality falls out of the hexagon's six corners each forming an equilateral triangle with the center — split a hexagon into six wedges and every one is equilateral, side length included. No other regular polygon gets that shortcut.
