Weighted GPA

Honors/AP/IB bonus points (+0.5 / +1.0) are the most common convention, but schools set their own weighting policy — check yours for an exact match.

Enter each course's grade, credits, and type to calculate unweighted and weighted GPA.

How to Use the High School GPA Calculator

Add a row per course with grade, credits, and course type — the type selector is what triggers the Honors/AP bonus in the weighted total, so an unweighted course should stay set to "regular."

High school transcripts often report two different GPAs side by side, and the gap between them is entirely about whether harder classes get extra credit for being harder. Unweighted treats an A in Honors Chemistry exactly like an A in regular Chemistry — same 4.0. Weighted adds a bonus for the tougher course, commonly +0.5 for Honors and +1.0 for AP or IB, before averaging.

weighted points = (grade points + course bonus) × credits

This High School GPA Calculator reports both numbers side by side from the same course list, since colleges and scholarship applications sometimes ask for one specifically rather than the other. The bonus values here are the most common convention, not a universal standard — some schools weight differently or cap the bonus, so check your school's own policy if the exact number matters.
