Inductor datasheets are inconsistent about which prefix they use, sometimes within the same manufacturer's own catalog, which is the actual reason a dedicated conversion tool earns a spot here rather than just being mental math.
base value (H) = entered value × from-unit factor
result = base value ÷ to-unit factor
A 100 µH inductor and a 0.1 mH inductor are identical components described two different ways — nothing distinguishes them electrically, only which prefix a particular parts catalog happened to standardize on. Cross-reference two suppliers' component listings and this kind of mismatch shows up constantly: one lists "4.7 mH," the other "4700 µH," same part, same value, different notation.
Toroidal chokes, EMI filter inductors, and switch-mode power supply components mostly live in the microhenry-to-millihenry band. Nanohenries belong almost exclusively to RF work — antenna matching networks, oscillator tank circuits — where a shift of a few nanohenries can move a circuit's resonant frequency by a meaningful amount. Get the prefix wrong when specifying a replacement part and the substitute won't just underperform, it'll likely be off by a factor of a thousand.
