How to Use the kWh to Watts Calculator
Enter total energy in kWh and the number of hours it was drawn over; the average power comes back in watts rather than kilowatts.
The math here is identical to the kWh to kW Calculator — same division, same "average, not instantaneous" caveat — just scaled by 1,000 so the answer lands in watts instead:
Average Power (W) = (Energy (kWh) × 1,000) ÷ Time (hours)
Watts is the more natural unit once the device in question is small. Nobody thinks of a laptop charger or a light bulb in fractions of a kilowatt; their nameplates say watts, and comparing this calculator's output against that label is a lot more direct than converting kilowatts in your head first. Kilowatts start earning their keep at building scale — HVAC systems, EV chargers, whole-home totals — where the watt figures would just be long strings of zeros.
As with the kWh-to-kW version, treat the result as a period average. A 10 W nightlight running steadily for 10 hours and a 100 W lamp running for one hour both use 0.1 kWh, and both would report back as "10 W average" here despite one running an order of magnitude hotter than the other.
