Enter your height and weight to calculate BMI and see how far above the healthy weight range's ceiling your current weight sits.
How to Use the Overweight Calculator
Toggle Metric or US units, then enter height and weight — the result shows your BMI category and, if applicable, how far your current weight sits above the healthy range's upper edge.
The Healthy Weight Calculator answers "what's my target range?" This one answers the next question: how far off is my current weight from the top of that range? Same underlying WHO numbers, opposite direction — target range in one tool, gap to that range in this one.
BMI = kg ÷ m²
Healthy-Range Ceiling (kg) = 24.9 × Height(m)²
Excess = Weight − Ceiling (when Weight exceeds it)
When weight sits at or below that ceiling, there's no "excess" figure to show — the calculator says so plainly rather than forcing a negative number onto the screen.
The Same BMI Limitations Apply Here
Everything the site's BMI Calculator says about BMI's blind spots carries over unchanged: it can't tell muscle from fat, and it's less reliable for athletes, older adults, pregnant people, and anyone under 20. An "excess" figure here measures distance from a population-level line, not a personalized target — a strength athlete flagged this way isn't carrying that gap in body fat.
Two people can show an identical excess-weight number for very different reasons — different frames, different muscle mass, different life stage — which is exactly why this figure works better as a conversation starter with a professional than as a number to chase down on its own.
