Enter the area to pave, the individual paver's length and width in inches, a waste percentage, and a price per paver for an estimated total cost.

The core idea is simple division — total area over one paver's footprint — but the waste factor is where estimates actually go wrong in practice. A plain rectangular patio laid in a running-bond pattern might only need 5-8% extra for edge cuts; a herringbone or basketweave pattern, or a bed with curves and cutouts, can eat 15% or more because so many border pieces need to be cut down rather than laid whole.

Pavers are sold by the piece or by the pallet depending on the supplier, and pallet quantities rarely divide evenly into a project's exact count — expect to round up to a full pallet on a large job even after this calculator's own rounding.
