How to Use the Plywood Calculator

Enter the area you need covered along with the sheet's width and length — the defaults are a standard 4×8 sheet, but both are editable for a special-order size. Waste percentage and price per sheet finish the order.

sheets = ⌈(area × (1 + waste %)) ÷ (sheet width × sheet length)⌉

A standard 4×8 sheet covers 32 square feet, which is the number most contractors mentally divide by for a quick estimate. This calculator does the same division, just rounded up to a whole sheet and padded by whatever waste percentage you set — 10% is a reasonable starting point for straightforward rectangular coverage, more if the layout involves a lot of cuts around corners or fixtures.
