Enter a point and a slope to calculate the equation of the line in point-slope form.

How to Use the Point-Slope Form Calculator

Enter a point on the line and its slope. The point-slope equation comes out below, along with the equivalent slope-intercept form.

point-slope: y − y1 = m(x − x1)
slope-intercept: y = mx + (y1 − m × x1)

Point-slope form is the more natural one to write down the moment a slope and a single point are known — no algebra required, the numbers just drop straight into the template. Converting to slope-intercept form afterward is really just distributing the m and moving y1 to the other side, useful mainly because y = mx + b is easier to graph at a glance or compare against another line.
