How to Use the Prorated Rent Calculator

Enter the monthly rent, how many days are in that month, and how many of those days are actually occupied. The prorated amount due updates immediately.

Move-ins and move-outs rarely land on the first of the month, so rent for that stretch has to be a fraction of the full amount rather than the whole thing.

Prorated Rent = Monthly Rent ÷ Days in Month × Days Occupied

At $1,800 a month over a 30-day month with 12 days occupied, the prorated amount comes to $720 — twelve-thirtieths of the full rent.

The "days in the month" field is left as a plain number you fill in rather than tied to a calendar, so it works the same whether the move happens in a 28-, 30-, or 31-day month — just type in whichever applies. Some landlords use a flat 30-day denominator regardless of the actual month length as a matter of lease policy; if that's the case for a given lease, enter 30 there instead of the calendar figure.
