Free savings calculator: project future value, or find the monthly deposit needed to hit a savings goal.

Future Value Required Monthly Deposit
Total Contributed
Total Interest Earned

Project the future value of a savings plan, or calculate the monthly deposit required to reach a savings goal.

How to Use the Savings Calculator

Choose a mode with the toggle. Calculate Future Value takes an initial amount, monthly deposit, annual rate, and years, and projects the balance forward. Calculate Required Monthly Deposit keeps the initial amount, rate, and years but swaps the deposit field for a savings goal, then solves backward for the deposit that gets you there.

Both modes share one formula — a starting balance compounding on its own, plus a stream of monthly deposits each compounding from the day it lands.

Future Value = Initial × (1 + r)ⁿ + Monthly Deposit × [((1 + r)ⁿ − 1) ÷ r]

r is the monthly rate and n the number of months. Required Monthly Deposit mode just rearranges that same line to isolate the deposit instead of the future value. Occasionally the initial amount alone, left to compound on its own, already clears the goal before a single deposit is added — in that case the required deposit floors at zero and a note says so, rather than asking you to make a negative deposit.

Total Contributed and Total Interest Earned show up under either mode's headline number. The first is every dollar that came out of your own pocket — the initial amount plus every deposit; the second is the balance (or goal) minus that figure, which is the part interest built on its own.
