This one works for any siding product, not just one type: enter the wall's length and height, subtract window and door area, then tell it how much area a single piece of your specific siding covers.
Everything downstream of that coverage number is the same simple division every material-quantity calculator on this site uses:
net area = (wall length × wall height) − openings
units needed = ⌈(net area × (1 + waste %)) ÷ coverage per unit⌉The coverage-per-unit field is the whole trick here, and there's no good universal default for it — a vinyl panel, a fiber-cement plank, and a wood clapboard cover wildly different areas per piece. Check the manufacturer's spec sheet (it's almost always printed on the product packaging or data sheet) and enter the exact figure; guessing at this number is the fastest way to under-order.
