How to Use the Volume Calculator

Pick a shape — Cube, Rectangular Box, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone, or Pyramid — and enter its dimensions. The volume updates immediately.

Cube: side³
Rectangular Box: length × width × height
Sphere: (4 ÷ 3) × π × radius³
Cylinder: π × radius² × height
Cone: ⅓ × π × radius² × height
Pyramid: ⅓ × base area × height

Every curved or pointed shape on this list — sphere, cylinder, cone — carries a π because a circle sits somewhere in its cross-section; every flat-faced shape — cube, box, pyramid — doesn't need one. Cone and pyramid also share that one-third factor for the same underlying reason: both taper from a base down to a single point, and that tapering always shaves a solid down to exactly one-third of what a same-base, same-height prism or cylinder would hold.
