How to Use the Volume Calculator

Cube: side³
Box: length × width × height
Sphere: (4/3) × π × radius³
Cylinder: π × radius² × height
Cone: (1/3) × π × radius² × height
Worth knowing even if you never derive it yourself: a cone always holds exactly one-third the volume of a cylinder sharing its base and height — not approximately, exactly, for any radius or height you pick. Same 1/3 relationship holds between a pyramid and its matching prism, for the identical underlying reason (both shapes taper to a point or edge).

Notice every formula uses a cubed or triple-multiplied dimension — volume is inherently three-dimensional, so doubling a sphere's radius doesn't double its volume, it multiplies it by 2³, or 8. That cubic scaling isn't unique to spheres; it's true of volume generally.
