How to Use the Wallpaper Calculator
Add up the total length of the walls you're covering — not just one wall, all of them combined — and enter the wall height, then subtract the square footage of any doors or windows. Roll coverage, waste percentage, and price per roll are all editable.
Wallpaper math starts the same way paint's does — total wall area from length times height — but the waste allowance has to work much harder here, because of pattern matching.
The Formula
Wall area = Total wall length × Height − Deductions
Area with waste = Wall area × (1 + Waste % ÷ 100)

A roll's printed pattern has to line up with the strip next to it, and every match wastes a chunk of paper at the top or bottom of each drop. A small, random pattern might only need the default 15%; a large motif with a tall vertical repeat can waste 25% or more of the roll before it's ever hung.
Roll Size Isn't Standardized Worldwide
A US single roll commonly covers around 56 square feet, but European rolls and specialty papers come in different widths and lengths entirely. Check the coverage printed on your specific product and update the field rather than assuming the default applies.
Order All Rolls From One Dye Lot
Wallpaper color can shift slightly between production runs. Buying every roll from the same batch number avoids a visible seam of mismatched color partway through a wall — worth confirming with the retailer before checkout on an order this size.
