How to Use the Weighted Average Calculator

Add a row for each value and its weight — unlike a plain average, rows with a bigger weight pull the result toward them harder, so try changing one weight to see how much influence it actually has.

weighted average = Σ(value × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)

Grades weighted 50/30/20 across scores of 90, 80, and 70 come out to 83, not the plain average of 80 — the 50%-weighted score pulls harder. This Weighted Average Calculator runs that math for any set of values and weights.

The weights don't need to sum to 1 or 100 first; dividing by their total normalizes everything automatically, whatever scale you entered them on. Reach for this instead of a plain average whenever values genuinely shouldn't count equally — course grades by assignment type, portfolio returns by dollar amount invested, survey results combined across differently-sized groups.
